| – As the score suggests this was a comfortable win for Thistle. An excellent defensive performance by Forsyth blunted the Third Lanark attack. Brown kept the forwards fed with chances and he set up Cunningham to go through the defence for 1-0. Scott and Wright made sure. |

| – Motherwell took the lead but Howitt levelled. Again Thistle fell behind but McCallum made it 2-2 just after half-time. Two more goals conceded and 2 penalties converted by McCreadie and it was 4-4. A fine move was finished off just before the end. |
