As the score suggests this was a comfortable win for Thistle. An excellent defensive performance by Forsyth blunted the Third Lanark attack. Brown kept the forwards fed with chances and he set up Cunningham to go through the defence for 1-0. Scott and Wright made sure.

Crawford scored with a header from a Hewitt cross (20) but after that the best chances fell to Dumbarton, especially when Bell fumbled a shot that was hacked clear. Report only to half-time.

Peat scored with a low drive (10) but Accies equalised when Husband was lobbed (20). Report only to half-time.

Crawford scored from close in when the Rangers defence got into a fankle (15) then Howitt went close. A pen (39) was converted for 1-1 then a brilliant run and shot put Rangers ahead (41). It was 3-1 (46) but Crawford scored again soon after.

ET 9/11/1950. Bell, Brown, Husband, Thomson, Collins, Kinnell, Peat, Wright, Murray, Cunningham, Balfour. Scorer as yet unsourced.
New signing Bell had a fine save early on then Cunningham went close from 25 yards. Thistle had some near things but Saints just edged the first half and hit the bar. Report only to half-time.

Cunningham gave Thistle the lead (5) then Miller's low drive was cleared off the line. Motherwell went close twice and scored from close in (42). Report only to half-time.

Motherwell took the lead but Howitt levelled. Again Thistle fell behind but McCallum made it 2-2 just after half-time. Two more goals conceded and 2 penalties converted by McCreadie and it was 4-4. A fine move was finished off just before the end.

Cunningham rounded the keeper to put Thistle ahead (10) rather against the run of play. The lead didn't last long however and a 30-yarder beat Bell (21). It was 1-1 at half-time but Thirds got the winner in the 2nd half.

Cunningham's deflected shot put Thistle 1-up (12) but Thirds equalised on the half-hour from close in. A drive on the angle by Browning (34) made it 2-1. The 2nd half saw 2 goals for Thirds and an og to earn Thistle a point.

A drab end of season affair full of “feckless footering”. Thistle were the better team but the forwards were shot-shy. McCredie scored with a pen for hand-ball (13) but Henderson was too slow getting down to a fast low shot (79).
