– Thistle led 5-2 at half-time having scored freely and rattled the woodwork several times. The second half was more closely contested but, understandably, Thistle eased off.
4. Sat-01-Sep-1928 [a] L1-5 Queen's Park (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 1/9/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 20/8/1928 HAIR.

– MT 21/9/1928. Arneil, Calderwood, Boardman, Richmond, Rodgers, Duncan, Wilkie, McLEOD, CHISHOLM (2), Simpson, Salisbury.
– A comfortable first half saw Chisholm score twice. Motherwell had some spells of pressure but they trailed 2-0 at half-time. The second half was even and both teams scored once.
7. Sat-22-Sep-1928 [a] L2-5 St Johnstone (Scottish Alliance)
– PRA 26/9/1928. Arneil, Fraser, Munro, Richmond, Richard, Boardman, WILKIE, Wilson, CHISHOLM, Simpson, Salisbury.
– A poor game, badly refereed. Thistle went behind to a header (2) and it got worse with a 30-yarder and a third before half-time. Chisholm scored but soon it was 4-1. A terrific drive by Wilkie was followed by a converted pen (hand ball).
8. Sat-29-Sep-1928 [h] L1-2 Hibernian (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 30/9/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 1/10/1928 SALISBURY.

10. Sat-13-Oct-1928 [h] W5-3 Kilmarnock (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 14/10/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 15/10/1928 FRASER (2), WILKIE (2), JOHNSTON.
11. Sat-20-Oct-1928 [a] L1-5 Brechin City (Scottish Alliance)
– BA 28/10/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 22/10/1928 SIMPSON.
– The teams traded spells of pressure and chances until Brechin cut loose and led 4-0 after 15 minutes. Simpson reduced the lead by half-time. Brechin lost a man to injury and Thistle had a good spell but a header at a corner made it 5 then Walker was sent off for threatening to hit a Brechin player.
12. Sat-27-Oct-1928 [h] D1-1 Nithsdale Wanderers (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 28/10/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 29/10/1928 WALKER.

14. Sat-10-Nov-1928 [a] D2-2 Ayr United (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 11/11/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 12/11/1928 WALKER, BOARDMAN. Calderwood and a United player were sent off for fighting.
15. Sat-17-Nov-1928 [h] W5-4 Airdrieonians (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 18/11/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 19/11/1928 TORBET, WILKIE, McLEOD, SMITH (2).

– APJ 26/11/1928. Arneil, Paton, Munro, Fraser, Rodger, Smith, Wilkie, Boardman, Walker, Young, Simpson.
– The Alliance league leaders were scarcely in any trouble in this match. They had much more to offer than Thistle and led 3-0 at half-time. The second half saw a marginal improvement by Thistle but it was never good enough to suggest a fightback.
17. Sat-01-Dec-1928 [a] L2-3 St Mirren (Scottish Alliance)
– PDE 3/12/1928. YOUNG, WATSON. Line-up as yet unsourced.
18. Sat-08-Dec-1928 [h] W3-2 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 10/12/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 10/12/1928 McLEOD, WILKIE, KERR.
19. Sat-15-Dec-1928 [a] L0-3 Kilmarnock (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 16/12/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced.
20. Sat-22-Dec-1928 [h] L2-4 Queen's Park (Scottish Alliance)
– SP 23/12/1928. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 24/12/1928 RICHMOND, WILKIE.
21. Tue-01-Jan-1929 [a] L1-3 Montrose (Scottish Alliance)
– MR 4/1/1929. Watson, Fraser, Munro, Richmond, Rodger, Hunter, Wilkie, McLEOD (J), Kerrigan, Dougan, Simpson.
– The Thistle defence was often in difficulties from Montrose's eager forwards. They were 1-up when they were awarded a penalty. The ball broke off Watson and the rebound was turned in. A scramble at a corner saw McLeod score but a well-worked goal made it 3-1.
22. Sat-12-Jan-1929 [a] L3-7 Motherwell (Scottish Alliance)
– MT 18/1/1929. Arneil, Young, Munro, MILLER, Ross, Hunter, Graham, McLeod, ROBERTSON, Wilkie, SIMPSON.
– Thistle were never at the races in the first half. They were 5-down before Miller scored just before half-time. Robertson made it 2-6 and Simpson 3-6 after half-time but the damage was done in the first half.
23. Sat-19-Jan-1929 [h] L2-3 Aberdeen (Scottish Alliance)
– APJ 21/1/1929. Smith, Young, Munro, Miller, Rodger, Hunter, Graham, McLeod, Neill, WILKIE (2), Simpson.
– A great tussle. Wilkie scored twice to give Thistle a comfortable lead but soon it was 2-1. Aberdeen's defence was fully stretched but eventually they hit back and levelled. Wilkie and an opponent were sent off then the winner came (83).
24. Sat-26-Jan-1929 [a] L1-2 Third Lanark (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 28/1/1929. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 28/1/1929 YOUNG.
25. Sat-02-Feb-1929 [a] L0-3 St Mirren (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 1st Round)
– SC 4/2/1929. Line-up as yet unsourced.
26. Sat-09-Feb-1929 [h] D2-2 St Johnstone (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 11/2/1929. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 11/2/1929 McLEOD, BOARDMAN.
27. Sat-23-Feb-1929 [h] W9-4 Brechin City (Scottish Alliance)
– BA 26/2/1929. SIMPSON, PHILLIPS (8). McLeod partnered Simpson on the left, full line-up as yet unsourced.
– On a treacherous pitch, Simpson started the goalfest then Brechin equalised. It then became the Phillips show with 3 goals making it 4-1 at half-time. He carried on until it was 9-1 then Brechin, who never gave up, scored three - the final goal a long-range free-kick.
28. Sat-09-Mar-1929 [h] W7-1 Montrose (Scottish Alliance)
– MOS 15/3/1929 / SP 10/3/1929. Kenny, Fraser, Boardman, Miller, Ross, Hunter, Graham, McLEOD (2), YOUNG (3), BEATH, SIMPSON.
– McLeod scored twice before Montrose hit the post then Beath and Simpson made it 4-0 at half-time. The Thistle half-backs held Montrose's forwards in a strangle-hold and they never got into the game. Their only goal was little consolation after Young's second-half hat-trick.
29. Sat-16-Mar-1929 [h] W7-2 Ayr United (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 18/2/1929. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 18/2/1929 McLEOD (3), SIMPSON, DOUGLAS (2), MILLER.
30. Sat-30-Mar-1929 [h] W3-2 Rangers (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 1/4/1929. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 1/4/1929 YOUNG (2), McLEOD.
31. Sat-06-Apr-1929 [h] D1-1 St Mirren (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 8/4/1929. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 8/4/1929 WATSON.
32. Wed-24-Apr-1929 [a] L2-3 Hibernian (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 25/4/1929. BEATH, RODGER. Line-up as yet unsourced, but also included Miller, Ross and McLeod.
– There was little between the teams in this Wednesday night match. Hibs had the pull at half-back and up front, Thistle were best at half-back.
33. Sat-27-Apr-1929 [h] W3-1 Third Lanark (Scottish Alliance)
– SC 29/4/1929. Line-up as yet unsourced. AN 29/4/1929 BEATH, YOUNG, RODGER.
34. Tue-30-Apr-1929 [a] D2-2 Falkirk (Scottish Alliance)
– FH 4/5/1929. Keeney, Watson, Black, Miller, Richmond, Hunter, Young, McLEOD, Boardman, Gibson, BEATH.
– A "dull and uninteresting" end of season affair. Twice Thistle were behind but goals from Beath ("a fine effort") and McLeod late on brought the 28/29 Alliance League to a close.
