Partick Thistle Reserves Season 1901-02

1901-02 (Reserves) |
The 27th season of Partick Thistle F.C. |
scorers in CAPS | |
1. Sat-14-Sep-1901 [a] L0-4 Third Lanark (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 1st Round) |
– SR 16/9/1901. Robertson, Sinclair, Gillatny, McDonald, Douglas, Slater, Good, Cunningham, Paul, Kirkland, Cassidy. |
– Thirds only managed two goals with the wind and but for woeful shooting it could have been more. Thistle rallied after half-time but found the Thirds defence a tough nut to crack. They went on to score twice more to emphasise their superiority. |
2. Sat-23-Nov-1901 [a] L2-3 Wellington (Friendly) |
– Listed under "Juniors" in APJ 25/11/1901. A friendly away to an Aberdeenshire "junior" team seems rather strange and unlikely. |
3. Sat-07-Dec-1901 [a] W2-0 Varsity (Friendly) |
– Listed under "Juniors" in APJ 9/12/1901. A friendly away to an Aberdeenshire "junior" team seems rather strange and unlikely. |
4. Sat-18-Jan-1902 [a] L0-3 Third Lanark (Friendly) |
– SR 20/1/1902. Line-up as yet unsourced. |
5. Sat-25-Jan-1902 [a] L1-4 Queen's Park (Glasgow 2nd XI Cup Semi Final) |
– SR 27/1/1902. Paul (W), Sinclair, Morgan, MacDonald, Douglas, Gellatly, Watson, Gibbons, Paul (J), LAMONT. Semi Final was the 1st Round as such. SFHA suggests this was a replay (score not known) but there is no trace of the fixture supposedly played the previous Saturday. |
– Lamont gave Thistle the lead after a long spell of Queens pressure were they were unlucky not to score. It was 1-1 at half-time and in the second half the Strollers “carried all before them”. |
6. Thu-24-Apr-1902 [a] L?-? Milngavie (Friendly) |
– SR 28/4/1902. Line-up and possible scorer(s) as yet unsourced. Thistle line-up included Connor, Massie, Muirhead, McAllister, Lamont, Law, McDonald, Wilson. |
– “Milngavie were in great form against Partick Thistle at Milngavie last Thursday night before 400 spectators when the defeated a strong team of the Thistle”. |
