1900-01 (Reserves)
The 26th season of Partick Thistle F.C.
scorers in CAPS
1. Sat-15-Sep-1900 [a] L0-5 Airdrieonians (Friendly)
ACA 22/9/00. Mackie, Campbell, Wilson, Bryce, Dunlop, McDonald, Campbell, McNicoll, Murray, Lindsay, Wylie.
Having advertised this match Airdrie were aggrieved Thistle sent their reserve team (playing their senior team in the Glasgow Cup instead). 0-0 at half-time suggested they would hold their own but Airdrie's “big” team rattled in 5 without reply in the second half.
2. ?Sat-29-Sep-1900 [h] W?-? Renton (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 1st Round)
SFHA. Won. Score not known. Nominal date. Celtic scratched 2nd round and Thistle received a Quarter Final bye.
3. Sat-27-Oct-1900 [h] W4-1 Queen's Park (Scottish 2nd XI Cup Semi Final)
SR 29/10/1900. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
Things looked unpromising at half-time. Thistle trailed 1-0 and had seldom been seen on the offensive. The second half saw a transformation and they had things all their own way, scoring four times.
4. Sat-08-Dec-1900 [h] D0-0 Third Lanark (Friendly)
SR 7/12/1900. (Predicted) Fletcher, Cunningham, A N Other, MacDougald, Currie, Harvey, Wright, Crawford, Paul, Clelland, McNicol. Confirmed line-up as yet unsourced.
In constant rain and on a sodden pitch the match was far from inspiring. Neither team managed to convert any of the chances they made, although McNicol was particularly unlucky. The second half petered out in falling darkness.
5. Sat-15-Dec-1900 [n] L2-8 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish 2nd XI Cup Final)
SR 17/12/1900. Fletcher, Cunningham, Crawford, Douglas, McDonald, Harvey, Wright, MACKIE, Paul, Clelland, McNICOL. (Played at Powderhall.)
Thistle faced a Hearts onslaught, gale and driving rain. A goal kick by Fletcher was blown back into the goalmouth and in, via a defender. 6-0 at half-time, it was 8-0 before Mackie and McNicol scored. “Veteran Paul failed to last the game”.
6. Sat-16-Feb-1901 [a] L2-4 Queen's Park (Glasgow 2nd XI Cup Semi Final)
SR 18/2/1901. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced. Semi Final was the 1st Round as such.
The score is a fair reflection of how the match went. QP Strollers were better in every department.
