12. Sat-22-Nov-1890 [a] L0-2 Heart of Midlothian (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 4th Round)
SC 24/11/1890. Line-up as yet unsourced.
A poor match in dreadful weather. Hearts progressed to the next round but there was little between the teams. Thistle enjoyed no luck at all in front of goal.
13. Sat-29-Nov-1890 [h] W3-0 Mossend Swifts (Friendly)
SR 1/12/1890. DONNELLY. Line-up and remaining scorers as yet unsourced.
Quite a crowd” turned out and saw a closely fought first half, Donnelly giving Thistle the lead and Sutherland very busy in goal to protect it. The second half was less even and two more goals saw Thistle win comfortably.
14. Sat-06-Dec-1890 [h] W4-1 Glasgow Thistle (Friendly)
GH 8/12/1890. (Predicted) Sutherland, Freebairn, Rodger, Hill, Murray, McMillan, Woods, Brown, Proudfoot, Donnelly, Suter (GEP) Confirmed line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle “a splendid all-round team”, edged an even first half, play raging from end to end and they took a 1-0 lead into the second half. The other Thistle found Sutherland in fine form and eventually 3 goals in quick succession to one conceded won the day.
15. Sat-13-Dec-1890 [n] L0-2 Rangers (Friendly)
SR 15/12/1890. Line-up as yet unsourced. Played at United Abstainers FC ground.
Rangers had the best of the chances in the first half, keeper Sutherland equal to them until half-time. The second half saw Freebairn a stalwart in defence but eventually Rangers got on top to win comfortably.
16. Sat-20-Dec-1890 [a] L2-3 Abercorn (Friendly)
SC 22/12/1890. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.

18. Sat-17-Jan-1891 [a] W5-0 Fusiliers (Friendly)
SR 19/1/1891. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
It was an empty victory because much to Thistle's annoyance they discovered their opponents were a mixed bunch styling themselves as the Fusilier reserves. Ironically their keeper was one of their better players.
19. Sat-24-Jan-1891 [a] D3-3 Third Lanark (Friendly)
SR 26/1/1891. WOOD. Line-up and remaining scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle played with 10 men in the first half (missing Sutherland their keeper) and trailed 2-3 at half-time but a late equaliser by Wood finished a fine game. “One of the best contested games played this season.
20. Sat-07-Feb-1891 [a] W4-0 Kilbirnie (Friendly)
IH 13/2/1891. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle struggled to break down a solid defence until 2 quick goals just on half-time. A third goal (46) and a fourth later on emphasised their superiority in every department - except perhaps for the home keeper who kept the score down.
21. Sat-21-Feb-1891 [a] L1-5 Morton (Friendly)
GT 23/2/1891. Line-up and scorer as yet unsourced.
Thistle were swept aside with a devastating 4-goal, 10-minute burst in the first half. They had no answer to the sweeping moves by Morton. 2 minutes into the second half and it was 5 before a late consolation and a strong but fruitless finish by Thistle. (GT)
22. Sat-28-Feb-1891 [h] L4-5 Motherwell (Friendly)
MT 7/3/1891. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
Thistle “played with great dash and spirit but they could not equalise matters.
23. Sat-14-Mar-1891 [a] L0-2 Queen's Park (Friendly)

SCL 23/3/1891. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
25. Sat-28-Mar-1891 [h] W4-2 Rangers (Friendly)
SR 30/3/1891. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
Partick Thistle Swifts are improving and easily disposed of the once famous Rangers Swifts” (despite trailing at half-time). “Proudfoot and Martin were the best of a lively forward line.
26. Sat-04-Apr-1891 [h] W4-0 Abercorn (Friendly)
GH 6/4/1881. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
27. Sat-25-Apr-1891 [h] W3-2 Kilbirnie (Friendly)
GH 27/4/1881. PROUDFOOT. Line-up and remaining scorers as yet unsourced.
Fast and well contested” the teams stood at 2-2 at half-time but a goal by Proudfoot with full-time approaching proved to be the winner.
