– Thistle attacked from the start and took the lead from a scrimmage (Alloa claiming off-side). They scored again just after half-time but Alloa reduced the lead then the Thistle keeper was charged into the net (too slow to clear his save) for 2-2.

– DC 3/1/1885. Line-up and scorer as yet unsourced. Played Our Boys Dundee the same day. Assumed this was the 2nd XI selection. Forfar club.
8. Sat-03-Jan-1885 [a] L2-5 Strathmore (Friendly)
– AG 10/1/1885. 11.30am at Damley Park. Confusingly, the reserves played this Strathmore (Arbroath) on the same day the first team played Strathmore (Dundee)!
– Each side scored two goals in the first period but, according to the local reporter, it became evident in the second half that the Strathmore was the stronger team, and they drew praise for a good passing game.
9. Sat-10-Jan-1885 [a] W3-1 Port Glasgow Athletic (Friendly)
– GH 12/1/1885. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced.
– “Played in very disagreeable weather at Port Glasgow.” The score was 1-1 at half-time but 2 more goals gave Thistle a comfortable win.

13. Sat-11-Apr-1885 [a] W3-2 Falkirk (Friendly)
– FH 18/4/1885. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced. Thistle played part of the match with 10 men.
– Played on a dreadful surface, neither side was at full strength. Falkirk played down hill (!) and with the wind but it was Thistle who led 3-0 at half-time. The second half was almost the reverse but Falkirk only scored twice.
